1st Five Races of the Season
Hello Guys!! It’s Friday Five and I am joining along with EatPrayRunDC, Mar on the Run, and You Signed Up For What?!
Today is FITNESS FRIDAY and I’d love to share with you the 1st 5 races on my schedule, in calendar order, this season. Please let me know if you’ll be at any of these races. I love meeting new friends “for reals” at the expos and races!!
1st Five Races of the Season
FIRST UP – NEXT WEEKEND
10K – Irvine, CA
I am so looking forward to this one. I will be running with Team RWB because TRWB is just the coolest bunch of people ever! The members are either military, supporters, or both. I am a proud supporter of our veterans and love hanging with them. There are chapters all over the country and also abroad which you can check out here: Team RWB
I really like the description Into the Wild has on their website:
“Trail running is a continually changing adventure triggering all your senses. The crisp clean air swirling into your lungs, the mud squishing under your feet , finding the proper foot placement, balancing on top of rocks, the water crossings, the views, the smells, the sounds, and did I mention the challenge to the human body. Whether it is spring, summer, winter, or fall you will find beauty and excitement each time you run trails.” (source)
2ND RACE OF THE SEASON
20k – ALL DAY
I have only ever raced 1 5k before so this race will be quite interesting. This race is 4 5k’s in a row (or you can run an individual 5k). I think it’s going to be a blast! This is also my very first Rock “N” Roll Marathon Series race as a Rock N Blogger so I am super excited!! I have run many many of their races, even earning the Rock Idol 10 Heavy Medal in 2013 but running as a Rock Ambassador will make this extra special!!

San Luis Obispo, CA
This will be my 2nd year running this wonderful half marathon and also my 2nd year running it as a SLO Ambassador!! Here is my last year’s recap in case you want to see why I love this race so much. SLO Half Marathon Race Review. It’s set in a super cool, low-key, city. In fact, it’s known as the #smalltownBIGRACE. It’s got the perfect amount of rolling hills, runs past vineyards, and ends up in the Iconic Madonna Inn parking lot. Here are just a few pics of the course and the Madonna Inn (interesting hotel to say the least).
P.S. YOU CAN SAVE $10 OFF SLO MARATHON AND 1/2 MARATHON WITH THIS SUPER COOL CODE: AMBDBRESSEMDC
I ran this race in 2014 and did write a little about it here: Rock N Roll San Diego Half Marathon recap
This recap was written 2 years ago and I had only written about 4 other races at that time. I wasn’t as wordy back then as I am now I guess. I love looking back through older posts…sort of 🙂
Anyhow, as you can guess, San Diego is a great place to run and just to BE. So much fun nightlife as well as so many areas to visit. I love Mission Bay and Sea World has always been a favorite of mine. I am sure to see some of you there this year!!
I LOVE this race!! This is how I first found out about Team RWB!! The RnR Seattle Half Marathon (2014 recap here) has what they call the Blue Mile. It is along Washington Lake and is run in honor of our Fallen Soldiers. It’s so beautiful. It’s amazing. The side of the trail is lined with pictures. While heart-breaking, it’s a great reminder of the sacrifices our military and their families make protecting our freedoms.
I am looking forward to every single one of these races and I’ve got a few more scheduled and am excited to fill the rest of my calendar.
Please share with me
