Valentine’s Week Workout Wrap
What started out as a slow, not super eventful week, turned out to be a fabulous week of rocking, running, and romancing. I am joining the lovely ladies of Weekly Wrap once again for this week’s edition. Thank you HoHo Runs and MissSippinPiddlin for hosting our weekly fun where we share and read about each other adventures and activities!
So this is how my week started out:
Monday, 2/8: I woke up with a bunch of chest congestion, so I rested on this day.
Tuesday, 2/9: Still congested but really really wanted to stick to my Half Marathon Training plan. This is only my 2nd week on the program. Instead of doing the speed work that was prescribed, I just did the same miles, but at my own leisurely pace 🙂
6 miles through the regional park
Wednesday, 2/10: Skipped cross training and babied myself
Thursday, 2/11: Instead of running, I went rocking. We had tickets to see P.O.D., 10 Years, Dead Letter Circus, and War of Ages at the House of Blues in Anaheim. It’s such a great venue. It’s nice and small so every seat is a great seat (actually it’s mostly standing room GA but great viewing and sound from anywhere). I have seen P.O.D. lots and lots of time. I just recently saw 10 Years on ShipRocked. The other two bands were new to me. I am now a huge fan of War of Ages!
Friday, 2/12: Took a lovely 5 mile run with hubby, it was slow but steady and I was happy to get out there.
Saturday, 2/13: I can’t remember what we did during the day but in the early evening, we took a little walk up to see the Laguna Beach sunset over Catalina Island.
Sunday, 2/14: This is where I finally got to make up some of those missed miles I had during the week due to being under the weather. 14 mile trail run. We started off in the hills in Laguna Niguel and ran 7 miles of trails down to the beach but before we hit the water, we turned around for the 7 mile trek back. I felt GREAT on the 7 going out – of course we were gradually going downhill. Coming back was a different story. We stopped at about mile 10 and picked some really sour oranges….refreshing and needed break. This was the first time I ever ran with a hydration pack and I am so grateful I did. I knew I would need extra water because my chest was still congested and also because their is no water available along the way. I did end up drinking the entire thing too! I will definitely take this pack on any trail runs from here on out. All-in-all this week of training ended up pretty darn OK. I did switch out my speed day for slow running but I got in my planned week of miles. Also, I would count our long trail run as hill training as well.
WEEKLY MILES: 25
I found this to be a very romantic Valentine’s Day. We had a great time running this trail together. After our run and getting cleaned up, we enjoyed a lovely dinner and movie before we both crashed. I call that Valentine’s Day Date Success!
I hope you all rocked your week big time and have cool stuff planned for the week ahead!
