Wrap it up With a Hike
I hope all enjoyed your Christmas week, if applicable, or whatever your week held for you. I certainly had an enjoyable one and enjoyed winding it down with a family hike today.
For Christmas, we got our oldest daughter and son-in-law a hiking backpack baby carrier for our one year old granddaughter and it was perfect! After much research, we went with the Phil & Ted’s Escape. I love how active their little family is. Baby’s older brother, (our 4 year old grandson) enjoyed the hike so much. He is an explorer at heart and is full of never-ending energy and excitement.
We met them on the Wood Canyon Trail near our house. Beautiful day for a hike. When we started out it was about 60 degrees and super sunny.
We were completely fueled by our leftover ham & eggs breakfast. I had made a huge ham for Christmas dinner and even after everyone took leftovers, we still had tons left. Between that Christmas dinner, that also included a deep fried turkey, and all the wonderful baked goods we consumed, I am going to have to really kick it in the next couple of weeks to get back on track!
My grandson was especially pleased that his deer calls worked! It was super awesome running into these guys during our hike!
Since I plan on running more trails this year, I think this trail will definitely be on my to-run list. Nice and close and seems there are lots of different trails to take. We are fortunate to live so close to so many amazing trails and also to live in a climate that allows us to run them year-around.
What are some of the ways you plan on staying active throughout 2016?
