Weekly Wrap – Show Us Your ACTIVE LIFESTYLE
Sunday, my youngest daughter and son-in-law came down from Playa Del Rey to hang out with us. We went down to Laguna for bit of shopping and lunch. It was a fabulous day! I know I’ve mentioned this before but I must do so again…..she is having her 1st baby, and my 3rd grand baby, at the beginning of March next year. We are all so super excited!
Monday, was Labor Day and it was also over 100 degrees. They had spent the night and we ended up just lounging around the pool all day before they had to get back home. I can’t believe it was the first time I’d went in the pool for a very long time. It was wonderful!
Tuesday we got out for a 7 mile run..it has been so dang hot these days though. Every run has felt like a struggle for me lately, but always glad to get out there! This run was at the regional park right by my house.
Wednesday was the first day of my month long trial of EduroPacks. Have you ever tried it? They sent me a 30 day supply in exchange for my review. I will post my review after I know more about how it works. I went to the gym for a 60 minute cycle class. It was wonderful. I love how the instructor pushes us so hard to keep adding resistance! After the class, I jumped on the treadmill for 6 miles of running. I hadn’t been on a treadmill for a very long time. It was pretty fun!
Thursday, we drove down to L.A. to visit my daughter at her office. She works in Westwood. We had a wonderful time touring her office and then heading out to lunch with her. After we left her office, we drove into West Hollywood. I love hanging out down there when I’m in the area. We went to the Saddle Ranch Chop House for happy hour then to the Rainbow Bar & Grill on Sunset Strip. Listened to some music and talked to some interesting tourists. Lots of music history in this area.
Friday, 9/11 – This was the first time we had attended the 9/11 Heroes Run put on by the Travis Manion Foundation. This run will now be a yearly tradition for us. I cannot think of anything I’d rather do on this day than remember and honor. “The 9/11 Heroes Run unites communities internationally with the goal to never forget the sacrifices of the heroes of September 11th and in the wars since: Veteran, first responder, civilian, and military. Raise awareness and honor the fallen.” source
There was a 5K and a 1K fun run. They provided a bbq to all the runners. They held a beautiful candlelight vigil. One of the marines that served with and was friends with Travis Manion delivered a wonderful and emotional speech. A local father spoke of his daughter that was on flight 175. Such a touching and nice way to honor the fallen and those that continue to serve and keep us safe.
Through our involvement with TeamRWB, we not only found out about this event but were able to participate by handing out the medals (commemorative dog tags) to all the runners.
My daughter and her husband ran the 5K while pushing my sweet grand babies in the double wide. I was proud to have them in attendance.
If you ever have the chance to attend this event since they hold them all over the country, I highly suggest it!
Also, thank you SunRype for donating 100% fruit bars for the event! The families loved them!
Saturday, we enjoyed a wonderful 13.1 mile run down at the beach going from San Clemente to San Onofre. Our daughter had such a fun time racing Friday night that she just wanted to run again so she joined us. It was her first 13 miles on sand. It was quite grueling as it was hot, humid, and the sand was soft. When we had to leave the sand due to high tide we had rocks to run on – strengthening our ankles for sure!! This run was a great way to wrap up the week, that’s for sure!
