- When: March 22, 2015
- Start Line: San Diego Petco Park
- Distance: 15K and 5K
- Expo: San Diego Concourse
The expo was available both Friday, March 20th & Saturday, March 21st 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. both days.
It was a mid size expo – smaller than Rock N Roll (aren’t they all?) but larger than many of the other races. Here’s the list of vendors: Expo Vendors. We picked up our bibs, racing chips, and goodie bag. The cute goodie backpack bag consisted of a pretty cool hoodie.
We also received a nice running hat by registering for the race prior to March 8th and using a special code.
Along with samples of different products, they also had a fun DJ there …a few people were even dancing.
Also, they gave out delicious hot chocolate as well as chocolate covered marshmallows. So far, I was completely digging this race!
They had a sign making station out front of the expo. My grandson made a sign for his mommy. This was going to be her first race!
All-in-All we enjoyed the Hot Chocolate expo…..next up RACE DAY!
The race didn’t start until 7:40 a.m. which was part of the reason my daughter, Shannon, chose this as her first race…getting out the door any earlier with 2 little ones can be quite challenging.
In my opinion, it was a nice combination of rolling hills. They weren’t too steep or too long but enough that we could enjoy some fun downhill action. I like the way the course ran although I didn’t think it was very scenic.
My husband and I were very proud of and excited for Shan. She rocked her first race holding perfectly steady at a 9:16 pace throughout the entire 15K. Finish time of 1:26. She is already scoping out her next race – she is now addicted!
The after-party!!! OK, this race definitely offered the best post-race treats I have ever enjoyed! Also, the medal might be my favorite to date!
During the post-race party, the DJ was there again bringing more fun to the day. I would definitely run another Hot Chocolate 15K and I would definitely recommend it to my running friends. I also think it’s the perfect distance for those transitioning from a 10K to a half marathon.
Did you race this weekend?
Have you ever run a Hot Chocolate event?
